Recover Faster with Voodoo Flossing and blood flow restriction training at Redrock Physiotherapy

Are you recovering from an injury or looking to improve your strength and mobility?

At Redrock Physiotherapy Clinic in St Albans, we offer innovative treatments like Voodoo flossing and blood flow restriction training (BFRT) to help you rehab faster. In this blog, we’ll explain how these techniques can benefit your recovery and get you back to full fitness.

Voodoo Flossing

Voodoo flossing involves tightly wrapping the affected joint or muscle with a special type of stretchy tape. This lifts the skin and reduces space between the layers of fascia. It allows fluids to flow out of the area, decreasing swelling and inflammation. Once the tape is removed after 5-10 minutes, you’ll notice improved mobility and range of motion.

Voodoo flossing speeds up recovery from both acute injuries and chronic issues. If you have a sprained ankle, flossing can quickly reduce pain and swelling. It’s also great for carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, knee/shoulder pain and poor flexibility. The tape compresses the area, moves fluid out, and allows for greater movement once removed.

Blood Flow Restriction Training

BFRT involves exercising while wearing a specialised cuff or wrap that partially restricts blood flow to the muscles. This allows you to use lighter weights but still gain strength with reduced stress on the joints. It stimulates muscle growth and accelerates rehab.

BFRT enhances recovery from injuries, surgery or immobilisation. You can improve strength up to 50% faster than traditional training. It’s also beneficial if you have arthritis, are deconditioned or have muscle loss. The light loads protect joints while the blood flow restriction promotes gains.

At Redrock Physiotherapy Clinic, our experienced physiotherapists use Voodoo flossing and BFRT to relax muscles, mobilise joints, reduce soreness and get you moving comfortably again.
